TRINITY

It is sometimes said that the Christian Trinity is derived from the Three Sumerian upper gods An, Enlil and Enki or later variations of the same like maybe Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. But the Sumerian trinity is about a Father; An, or Anu and his two sons; Enki and Enlil. A Father, a good son and a bad son. A concept well known too in Jewish and Christian lore as God, Michael and Satan, who were the two greatest Benei Elohim, or sons of God. In the Old Testament there is a pattern seen throughout biblical history of younger brothers being chosen over their firstborn brother. Abel/Cain, Isaac/Ishmael, Jacob/Esau, Joseph/Reuben. This pattern of a younger brother receiving the right of firstborn over the older is an echo of old Sumerian tales where Enki, son of an earlier wife of Anu, according to matrilineal law, received the right of Firstborn, even though Enlil was born before him. In Jewish tradition it is Michael who takes over the staff of Righteousness from Satan. It can even be defended that the old concept of a Father God with two sons, one good and one bad is still alive in the Old testament or Jewish Bible or Tenach...

The LORD (IHWH, Yahwèh, Michael/Angel of God) said to Satan, "The LORD (IHWH, Yahwèh, God) rebuke you, Satan! The LORD (IHWH, Yahwèh, God), who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you!  Zec.3:2

...with the difference that convinced as they were that there is only One God who arranges everything, the Jewish scholars  named them all Yahwèh. 3Enoch mentions lots of angels called Yahwèh after the name or title of God Himself. Due to the awe and secrecy concerning the name Yahwèh (First Lord), nobody knew its exact meaning anymore, and in the conviction that there is only one God, the Jews ascribed all acts of the Yahwèhs to the One God Almighty, which saddled Him up with seemingly unexplainable contradictions and the impression that He was some kind of split personality, a cruel and vengeful god; a Demiurge.

But still it's one Yahwèh talking to another about the highest Yahwèh.  Satan also used to be a Yahwèh, a first Lord until Michael took over his job.

*

The Christian Trinity however and the Catholic Trinity in particular is understood as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit;

three separate persons yet one God.

This concept is not supported by the Bible. Not the way it is pictured above, it doesn't add up with the following verses;

When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me. John 15;26,

  If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:12

It is the Father in heaven who gives Holy Spirit.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Eph1;3

Jesus is blessing us with spiritual blessings coming from God the Father.

Jesus was not born with this Holy Spirit.

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. Matthew 3:15

God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. Acts 2;33

Which means that God the Father is Spirit and Jesus, the Son is passing it on to us.

Because those of whom he had knowledge before they came into existence, were marked out by him to be made like his Son, so that he might be the first among a band of brothers. Ro 8:29

Before he was born, Jesus' soul was already connected with the Son. It is as high as one could go until then. During his life he became connected to the Father who encompasses it all and has his own heaven.

And though there is a distinction made between the Father and the Son it should be noted that it is all the same Spirit.

For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 1Cor 8;6

It is like the Light you might see during what we call the "Big Bang".

Proceding from an "infinitely small" but certain point of origin; the Throne

 it continuously establishes and feeds Creation as the Son or Lord.

We cannot see beyond our dimension yet; to us that Light is Lord.

The Light or energy itself however is the Spirit,

and comes from beyond that infinitely small point;

it comes from the Father; it comes from God.

Maybe this is a better representation;

The only places where the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are named together are...

All the saints salute you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. 2Cor13;13

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18

...and since these phrases looked very much like the following phrase...

There are three that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit and these three are One. 1John 5:7

...they figured that the Word, or "Logos" which in Greek means word, or the governing principle of reason must have been a pre-creational person, an individual angel and the same as the Son and as Jesus Christ, although the same Logos is portrayed in Ecclesiastics as a mythological woman.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God; this one was in the beginning with God;  all things through him did happen, and without him happened not even one thing that hath happened.  In him was life, and the life was the light of men, and the light in the darkness did shine, and the darkness did not perceive it...  He was the true Light, which doth enlighten every man, coming to the world;  in the world he was, and the world through him was made, and the world did not know him:  to his own things he came, and his own people did not receive him;  but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God -- to those believing in his name,  who -- not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but -- of God were begotten.  And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.  John 1;1 (YLT)

3but what does it actually say here?

John 1 (YLT)

In ancient Greek, the first language the gospels were translated in, the word for "him"; autos can also mean "that" while auto means "it".

In the beginning was the Word,

God spoke; Light. Gen. 1;3

Right in the beginning there sounded a word

and the Word was with God,

It was He who spoke it.

and that word came from God

and the Word was God;

the word contained the power of God; He spoke and it happened accordingly.

and that word was as God

this one was in the beginning with God;

this took place when God began his creation.

in the beginning with God it was

all things through him did happen,

 All things happened because of that event.

all things became because of it

and without him happened not even one thing that hath happened.

and nothing began appart from it.

Not even one thing that began took place without it

In him was life,

Within you is the spring of life. Ps. 36:9

It carried life in it

and the life was the light of men,

that he may be lighted with the light of life. Job 33:29

that life was light to man

and the light in the darkness did shine,

the LORD my God illumines my darkness. Ps.18:29

the Light shone into the dark

and the darkness did not perceive it...

“This is the basis for judgment: The light came into the world, and people loved darkness more than the light, for their actions are evil. John 3:19

but the dark couldn't comprehend it

He was the true Light, which doth enlighten every man, coming to the world;

You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord, so live your life as children of light..Eph. 5:8

It was the true Light which enlightens all people that came into the world

in the world he was, and the world through him was made, and the world did not know him:

God's word that is.

It was in the world and though the world was made by it, the world did not recognize it

to his own things he came, and his own people did not receive him;

And he marveled because of their unbelief. Mark 6:4-6

It came to its own things and its own people didn't recognize it

but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God

And I will receive you,  And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2Cor 6;17

but to those who did receive it, to them it gave the power of becoming sons of God

-- to those believing in his name,  who -- not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but -- of God were begotten.

Blessed are you, ... for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. Matt 16: 16

not begotten by blood lineage or human desire or sexual intercourse but by God

And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us,

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD. Ps.118;26

That word became real. It lived among us.

and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.

And as he was praying, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment became white and dazzling. Luke 9;29

We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory of the Father's son, full of grace and truth.

The Latin Vulgate translated everything with "him" and as a consequence the Logos became a mythological figure.

All translators took it over and the LOGOS was born.

The idea was amplified by the letter to the Hebrews in the New Testament.

Nobody knows who wrote it but it found its way into the Bible anyway.

The messengers are winds, the servants are tongues of fire. But he says to the Son, You're God, and on the throne for good; your rule makes everything right. You love it when things are right; you hate it when things are wrong. That is why God, your God, poured fragrant oil on your head, Marking you out as king, far above your dear companions.  Hebr. 1;8 The Message (MSG)

This section is often used to prove that Jesus as he walked on earth was God.

"Your throne is God's throne, ever and always; The scepter of your royal rule measures right living. You love the right and hate the wrong. And that is why God, your very own God, poured fragrant oil on your head, Marking you out as king from among your dear companions. Psalm 45:6-7 The Message (MSG)

True, this verse is about the Messiah, the Christ, which means the anointed one.

But he wasn't called God here. It is God, his very own God who anointed him in order to be the Christ.

For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell. Col 1;18

and as such,

Christ  is the visible representation of the invisible God, the Firstborn and Lord of all creation.

For in Him was created the universe of things in heaven and on earth,

things seen and things unseen,

thrones, dominions, princedoms, powers--all were created, and exist through and for Him.

And HE IS before all things

and in and through Him the universe is a harmonious whole. Col 1;15 WEY

But he wasn't God Himself. He said it himself...

the Father is greater than me. John 14:27

How can Jesus be God if God is greater than Jesus? Jesus himself defined his relationship to God.

Jesus said: "the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me"-John 14:11

"For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak."-John 12:49

God manifested himself to Jesus. God dwelled in Jesus. God was in Jesus and Jesus was in God. Jesus was one with God. Whoever had seen Jesus had also seen God. At the same time, Jesus is not God since God is greater than Jesus. The God part that dwelled in Jesus is the part that was doing the speaking and the mouth of Jesus spoke only the words that God gave to him to speak.

Jesus is called the Word because he spoke the WORD.

.Mind you, he may not be God Himself, but he is the closest thing to it.

He is the Chosen One, He is our Lord and Savior and has been given all power in Heaven and on Earth.

God has endowed him with

...his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way. Eph 1; 20

All power in Heaven and over the earth has been given to me. Mt 28:18

GOD

IS OUR FATHER

THE WORD IS HIS INTENTION

THE SPIRIT IS HIS RADIATION OR BREATH

HIS MEDIATOR IS THE SON AND THE SON IS OUR LORD

JESUS A SON OF MAN PROCLAIMED THE WORD AND BECAME SON OF GOD

BEFORE HIS BIRTH hE WAS CONNECTED TO THE SON AND IS NOW CONNECTED TO THE FATHER

he is called the word and the truth and as the son he holds the key to the way to the father

*

Go then, and make disciples of all the nations,

giving them baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Mt 28:19

  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. Eph1;3

God is the well, Jesus is the river and the Spirit is the water.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Apostolian Creed

First Council of Nicea (325 AD)

First Council of Constantinople (381 AD)

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father [the only-begotten; that is, of the essence of the Father, God of God], Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds (æons), Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;

By whom all things were made [both in heaven and on earth];

by whom all things were made;

Who for us men, and for our salvation, came down and was incarnate and was made man;

who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man;

He suffered, and the third day he rose again, ascended into heaven;

he was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered, and was buried, and the third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father;

From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

from thence he shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;

whose kingdom shall have no end.

And in the Holy Ghost.

And in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of life, who proceedeth from the Father, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spake by the prophets.

In one holy catholic and apostolic Church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

There were many efforts to translate the Greek original documents into “old Latin” but from the available Latin translations it is clear that the majority of these were of very poor quality. The situation deteriorated to the point that “in 382 that Pope Damascus (366-384) called upon Jerome (Sophronius Eusebius Hieronymus) to remedy the situation. Jerome was the greatest scholar of his generation, and the Pope asked him to make an official Latin version -- both to remedy the poor quality of the existing translations and to give one standard reference for future copies. Damascus also called upon Jerome to use the best possible Greek texts -- even while giving him the contradictory command to stay as close to the existing versions as possible” (“Vulgate,” Encyclopedia of Textual Criticism).
As you can see, things haven't improved very much since then;

    Abraham was born in Sumer. According to the oldest Sumerian myths the uppergod An, or Anu was born in Nammu the primordial see as a twin;

    Ki-Anu; Ki (earth)-Anu (spirit) hence; matter and energy,

    which shows that they are one and the same which agrees with modern scientific findings.

    An (Anu) means Spirit; he is sometimes even called Holy An, which literally means Holy Spirit.

    He was born in the primordial waters called Nammu.

    A concept that was taken over by the Brahmin, descendents of Abraham in India.

    He,

    desiring to produce beings of many kinds from his own body,

    first with a thought created the waters (Nammu, Sum.)

    and placed his seed in them.

    That (seed) became a golden egg, in brilliancy equal to the sun;

    in that (egg) he himself was born as Brahma,

    the progenitor of the whole world.
