In the Bible, people are called souls after the soul; Nephesh, the portion of life-force, that is in the body, keeping it alive.
Then he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried to the LORD, "O LORD my God, let this child's soul come into him again." And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. 1 Ki 17; 21
If such a soul has enough intelligence or consciousness, it may receive a portion of spirit, that will keep the soul alive. Such a soul then is called after the spirit that lives in her.
And they were laughing at him, being certain that she was dead.
But he (Jesus), taking her hand, said to her, My child, get up.
And her spirit came back to her and she got up straight away.

This Spirit is the energy you may experience after praying. (If not, pray some more.) It is the feeling of happiness, joy and brilliance, being touched by a ray of Light, which enables you to cope with the world, which will put you back on track and will guide you Home where you belong.
And the dust goes back to the earth as it was, and the spirit goes back to God who gave it. Ec 12:7
Taking the newborn soul with it.
For this reason he says, He went up on high, taking his prisoners with him, and gave freely to men. Eph 4:8 BBE
as if He was fishing for you with a fishing-line or a net in the waters.
