Nirvana (from the Sanskrit and Pali: Nibbana, and Pinyin Chinese: nič pán), literally "extinguishing", is the culmination of the pursuit of liberation (moksha) in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, & Jainism. It denotes a condition of Being devoid of the fires of passion such as lust, anger or craving and is thus a state of great inner peace and contentment. Nirvana is the heavenly state that exists beyond the cycle of reincarnation, freedom from karmic suffering (Hinduism, Buddhism); state of being heavenly; being in Paradise.
