The name Cronos may be a mixture of Cernunnos and the Greek word Chronos; time. He was the youngest of the twelve Titans, building blocks of creation; laws and powers of Nature. After these building blocks were installed, (a thought-process of the creator.) things were set in motion; things started happening; time was "born".

It is said that Chronos “castrated” Uranus; from Gk. Ouranos lit. "heaven," in Gk. cosmology, the god who personifies the heavens, father of the titans. Ur - Anu, ancient Anu, the Sumerian Spirit or Light. It is said that Cronos' castration of his father separated heaven from earth. Meaning that in time, things happened which diminished the influence of Anu; Matter arose from the waters and threw a shadow over Creation.

Cronos was the father of Zeus, which means that in time, after eons, Zeus was born.  Zeus was only the last of a series of brothers and sisters who all got eaten by Chronos; who all vanished in time. Yet he was called the Firstborn by Homer.

The story is that Zeus was saved by his mother Gaia (Life), who dressed up a rock (Planet) with his clothing, to look like him, while Zeus was hiding here on Earth (Rhea).  Chronos ate this rock; this planet; it weathered in time.  Zeus having flown from a dying planet, became the first-born to survive Chronos; time and thus he slew him. All this reminds of the story of the race of Anunaki who (in or out of the body) descended to Earth after a catastrophe that was caused by Ninazu; Azael in order to wipe out Anzu.
