The brain processes a lot more information than we are aware. I think the rate is 400 Billion bits to 2000 bits a second that we are focusing on. It is like some insects that can "only hear" the sounds produced by their own species, which is handy if you live in the total cacophony of the jungle but it does narrow your perception of things down to the absolute minimum. We know we can only see or hear a certain bandwidth of waves, but there's a lot more going on than we are aware of.
We only seem to hear what we want to hear, and see what we want to see...and turn it into our own reality.
And that reality may be very deceptable indeed.
