Chi
(Qi) is an energy sometimes described as electro-magnetic energy. It
is the same energy that was released at the Big Bang;
The Spirit; the Light that shines into the darkness.
There be Light. The whole universe is pervaded with energy, with Spirit, which
is an old word for energy. The Hebrews would say; Ruach or Neshama; spirit, wind
or breath, or Chaya which is the old version of the Hebrew name for Eve; Chava,
meaning life. In Japan, the word qi
is written ki, and is
related to the practice of Reiki.
The Chinese say; Chi, which also means spirit wind or breath. They say that
where Chi collects itself, a body is formed.
|
All that lives has Chayah. Chayah means life; it is the old form of the word Chawah (Hawah), which is the name of Eve in Hebrew. The Greek named the earth Gaia (Gè, or Gaea). Gaia stood for vitality, the basin of life-force from which all life originated and to which all life returned. She arose from Chaos, the "energized" void; the primal higher waters of potentiality. The Chinese would say; -everything in the universe is Chi- (Qi; life force) -where Chi collects itself, a body is formed- because everything in the universe has its origin in this energy (these primal waters). The ancient Sumerians already used the word Ki to name the (living) Earth, with its potential of life-force. The living soul abiding in everything in nature; the trees, the rivers, flowers, animals, the rocks even, are called Kami (entities) in Shintoism. Khe-chara (ether walker) is a name, used in Hindustan, for a soul-traveler or a siddhi. The Egyptians used the word Ka (Egyptian word for soul) to indicate the life force that made up the spiritual double of man, which was created at birth; the soul, the spiritual twin body, inhabiting and copying the physical body. Where Chi collects itself, a body is formed, is often explained as if the soul determines the body, which is debatable. It merely means that everything is made of energy, which is true. A soul in the first place is life-force, or; Chi. All animals are souls. They all have a life-force inhabiting a material body. If this life-force leaves the body, causing it to die, the body will remain. This life-force is shaped by the body, it fills the body to the smallest detail, forming a spiritual twin, the spiritual body. The thought process or character or even the mind is determined by the constitution of the body, (its brain) and the environment it lives in. It should be obvious; we look like our parents; you may have the eyes of your mother and the nose of your father, the temper of your grandmother and the wits of your grandfather. All these characteristics are results of inherited properties, or genes, indicating that the body is the matrix of the individual soul, and not the other way around. |

The name that can be spoken is not the eternal name. The nameless is the Father of heaven and earth. The named is the Mother of ten thousand things.
Without Desire one may see the
mystery. These two though different in name are of the same source. This source is called mysterious; Mystery of Mysteries; the essence of all existence. Tao te Ching, Ch 1 |
This energy is available in different densities varying from what we call Matter, to Life-force or Soul up to the Holy Spirit of God, God's Healing Energy. In the Hebrew Bible it is called the Ruach; the Breath of God. His Presence, or consciousness even. The word for soul; Nephesh and the word for spiritualized soul also mean breath, wind, indicating a form of spirit or breath of God.
Everything is consciousness; it comes in different levels, related to the different densities of energy. If you open up yourself to this highest, purest form of energy, you connect to the highest form of consciousness; a direct line to God, so to speak; everything that's Good. You're in touch with DAO, or; Tao; the good way, the right path; the way it's meant to be.

Chi is much like an electrical field, which enables you to do astonishing things. It, among other things, is used in martial arts as a defense. Used as defense, it can make the body virtually invulnerable to the most severe blows dealt by the opponent. Used in attack, one is able to knock out someone by throwing energy balls of Chi at him, but it is also used to heal someone.
There are different "sorts" of Chi;
Prenatal or heavenly Chi
Yuan-chi; the pristine Chi we inherit at the conception of our parents.
Postnatal or post heavenly Chi is divided into two sorts;
Gu-chi;
from the food we eat. Main organ is the spleen.
Kong-chi;
from the air we breath. Main organs the longs.
|
Some people claim to live of air alone. In her book "Pranic Nourishment, a personal journey by Jasmuheen" the author describes the possibility of not just being a carnivore, a vegetarian, a veganist or a fruit eater but to be able to live on water or solely on breathing. See also below. |
These two Chi varieties mix and form;
Zong-chi; chi that collects itself; the Chi of the chest.
This Zong-chi is catalyzed by the working of the Yuan-chi and forms;
Zheng-chi; normal, or standing Chi. This is the Chi that circulates through the meridians and organs of the body.
This Zheng-chi is the basis for;
Ying-chi;
nurturing healing Chi, of great importance to all tissues.
Wei-chi;
defending Chi circulating on the outside of the body, protecting it against external factors that might cause disharmony or disease.
|
This
is what may be referred to as a shield in the Bible. |
When Zheng-chi flows through an organ, the Chi functions accordingly to the characteristics of these organs and is called;
Zangfu-zhi-chi, organ chi, and; Ying-luo-zhi-chi, meridian chi, when flowing through the meridians of the body.Chi is the cause of our body's activity, it heats and protects our body, is said to hold tissues and organs in place and is crucial to the transforming of food and air in vital nutrients and energies like Chi itself. A lack of Chi is why elderly people often feel cold.

There is no matter,
It's all a
matter-of-spirit

Then there is the
Ying;
the essence; the basis of all aspects of organic life. If there is an
abundance of Ying, there is a strong life-force and the organism is strong and
radiant, but with a shortage of Ying, the organism is conceptive to sickness and
diseases.
Chi is more related to movement, Ying is more related to slow changes in development, characteristic for the growth of the organism throughout its life, from fetus to old day and death. The Ying is viewed as a blueprint of what a person should look like at any moment of his life.
There are two sorts of Ying;
Xian-tian-zhi-ying; the congenital essence or heavenly Ying is formed by sexual energy when a man and a woman are joined in intercourse.
The quality of the inborn Ying is said to be
a given, determining someone's constitution and characteristics for the rest of
his life. (Genes?)
How-tian-zhi-ying;
post natal or post heavenly Ying is attained from food and serves as a
supplement for the congenital Ying. Together they form the total Ying of the
organism.

The kidneys play an important role. Kidney-Ying accelerates the conversion of Kidney-Yin in Kidney-Chi while influenced by Kidney-Yang. Kidney-Chi is important because it is the basis of all Chi in the body.
In Chinese medicine, Ying, Chi and Shen are called San Bao; the three treasures; and are viewed as the three essential components of Man's life.
Ying
is the component that is the most dense of the three and responsible for the
development processes of the body.
Chi
is the next stadium, responsible for the more immediate vitality of the body.
Shen;
the spirit is the most refined level, responsible for human consciousness. The
drive of the Shen is the cause of the human personality. The Shen has an
emotional working, the
Xin
and an intentional working; the
Yi,
carried by
willpower.
The Yi is (or should be) the controlling factor. It is called the Commander in
Chief, or General; it regulates the Chi (the soldiers) or life-force in and
around our bodies. The easily distracted Xin or emotional mind is like a monkey,
jumping from one branch to the other and is sometimes referred to as the "Monkey
spirit". Actually when talking about the workings of the mind; it is the
spirit, the Hindu
Atma, trying to control the animal
mind that is so easily distracted by what in Hinduism is called the
Gunas; curiosity, comfort,
laziness, and Kama; lust.
|
The term used commonly in Chinese bibles for God or Spirit is
Shén,
or "神".
In Taoism, (Daoism) when employed in relation to yang, the Shen refers to the celestial or spiritual, hence the gods; in relation to man it is generally translated soul. Yang is defined as a supreme, universal shen -- living, creating, dividing itself into an infinite number of shen -- depositing the shen in the various beings of the worlds. "The shen are omnipresent; it is they which perform the unfathomable work of the Yang and the Yin. These two vital breaths (of the universe) create the beings; their peregrinating hwun (or shen) are the causes of the changes (in nature), from which, accordingly, we may learn the actions and manners of the kwei and the shen" I Ching, Hi-ts'ze 1. With regard to man, the Li Chi states that "Man is a product of the beneficial operation of the Yang and the Yin, and the union of a kwei with a shen; he consists of the finest breath which the five elements contain" Li yun 3. The Kwei in general are evil spirits or demons; used in Taoism in connection with yin, referring to beings supposed to be connected with the dark side of nature. Yin is regarded as a universal kwei divisible into myriads of particles. Union of the kwei and shen causes life, activity; their separation causes death. Man is likewise composed of a kwei and shen, the kwei representing the dark side of his nature. Rakefet. The higher and lower self; the spirit and animal soul. |
Blood is viewed as a very material fluid manifestation of Chi.
|
This is also stated in the
Bible. |
Blood nourishes and moisturizes the body and helps in anchoring the spirit,
enabling the development of clear and stable thought processes. If someone has a
shortage of blood, a tendency towards agitation and fear may occur because the
blood doesn't anchor the spirit. It is said that Blood nourishes the Chi and Chi
produces blood.
The physical body is the densest level of chi.
Next to the body there the following levels;
The ethereal body; life-force itself. In Egyptian terminology this would be the Ka.
The astral body; the shape it takes on when outside the physical body. In Egyptian terminology this would be the Ba.
The Mental body divided in the instinctive and intellectual level, and the level of pure spirit; the causal level.
These en
It must be said however that no clear distinction can be made between these energy bodies. Each energy level influences the next and is intertwined with it. They are more like different aspects of the spiritual body.
*
Then there are the Chakras; seven great ones and thousands of smaller ones, although the word means wheel, they are often described as flowery shapes, but mostly as vortexes of energy in our subtle energy body, that are directly linked to the cellular structure of the physical body.
These physiological chakras, which are actually connected with the pranic circulations and ganglia of the Auric Egg, and therefore function in the physical body through the intermediary of the linga-sarira, or astral model-body, are located in different parts of the physical frame, reaching from the parts about the top of the skull to the parts about the pubis. . . . were this mystical knowledge broadcast, it would be sadly misused, leading not only in many cases to death or insanity, but to the violation of every moral instinct. Alone the high initiates, who as a matter of act have risen above the need of employing physiological chakras, can use them at will, and for holy purposes -- which in fact is something that they rarely, if indeed they ever do. G de Purucker - Encyclopedic Occult Glossary
In India, the following seven primary chakras are commonly described ranging in color from Infrared to ultraviolet:
Sahasrara (Sanskrit: सहस्रार, Sahasrāra) Crown Chakra (Top of the head; 'Soft spot' of a newborn). Sahasrara is represented by the color violet and it involves such issues as inner wisdom and the death of the body. Sahasrara's inner aspect deals with the release of karma, physical action with meditation, mental action with universal consciousness and unity, and emotional action with "beingnness".
Ajna (Sanskrit: आज्ञा, Ājñā) Brow or Third Eye Chakra (pineal gland or third eye) corresponds to the color white, indigo or deep blue. Ajna's key issues involve balancing the higher & lower selves and trusting inner guidance. Ajna's inner aspect relates to the access of intuition. Emotionally, Ajna deals with clarity on an intuitive level.
|
In Hebrew, the word Ayin means eye, but also means spring or a well; that is to say, the place were the Light enters the body. The third eye. The light of the body is the eye. Therefore, when thine eye is One (single), (one; in unity; jechida, when soul and spirit are in unity with God.) thy whole body also is full of light. But when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Lu 11:34 |
Vishuddha (Sanskrit: विशुद्ध, Viśuddha) Throat Chakra (throat and neck area). Vishudda is characterized by the color light or pale blue, or turquoise. It governs such issues as self-expression and communication, as discussed above. Physically, Vishuddha governs communication, emotionally it governs independence, mentally it governs fluent thought, and spiritually, it governs a sense of security.
Anahata (Sanskrit: अनाहत, Anāhata) Heart Chakra (heart area). Anahata is related to the colors green or pink. Key issues involving Anahata involve complex emotions, compassion, tenderness, unconditional love, equilibrium, rejection and well being. Physically Anahata governs circulation, emotionally it governs unconditional love for the self and others, mentally it governs passion, and spiritually it governs devotion.
Manipura (Sanskrit: मणिपूर, Maṇipūra) Solar Plexus Chakra (navel area). The color that corresponds to Manipura is yellow. Key issues governed by Manipura are issues of personal power, fear, anxiety, opinion-formation, introversion, and transition from simple or base emotions to complex. Physically, Manipura governs digestion, mentally it governs personal power, emotionally it governs expansiveness, and spiritually, all matters of growth.
Swadhisthana (Sanskrit: स्वाधिष्ठान, Svādhiṣṭhāna) Sacral Chakra (ovaries/prostate). The Sacral Chakra corresponds to the color orange. The key issues involving Svadisthana are relationships, violence, addictions, basic emotional needs, and pleasure. Physically, Svadisthana governs reproduction, mentally it governs creativity, emotionally it governs joy, and spiritually it governs enthusiasm.
Muladhara (Sanskrit: मूलाधार, Mūlādhāra) Base or Root Chakra (last bone in spinal cord *coccyx*). Muladhara corresponds to the color red. Key issues involve sexuality, lust and obsession. Physically, Muladhara governs sexuality, mentally it governs stability, emotionally it governs sensuality, and spiritually it governs a sense of security .
The study of the Chakras is central to many different therapies and disciplines. Subtle energy is explored through practices such as aromatherapy, mantras, Reiki, hands-on healing, flower essences, radionics, sound therapy, color/light therapy, and crystal/gem therapy, to name a few. Acupuncture, shiatsu, tai chi and chi kung (Qi Gong) focus on balancing the energetic meridians that are an integral part of the chakra system, according to Vajrayana and Tantric Shakta theories. Several models will be explored in the following sub-headings.
Qi Gong (Chi Gung) exercises rely on a similar model of the human body as an energy system, except that it involves the circulation of qi (ki, chi) energy.
In the circuit of qi, called the Microcosmic orbit, energy is channeled, breathing in and out, up the back (Governing Channel, Du Mai) imagining steam and down the front (Conception Vessel, Ren Mai) like running water. In Macrocosmic orbit the qi is also guided through the main channels in the limbs. This is done in order to store Chi in the Dantian and improve the circulation of Chi through the body.
|
The concept of meridians channeling the qi are superficially reminiscent of that of the chakras and the prana respectively, and it was sometimes suggested that they were inspired by the Indian concepts (who in their turn may have been influenced by Abrahamitic tribes, the Brahmin). The (probably mythical) Chinese ruler known as the Yellow Emperor (Huang-ti, circa 2704 B.C.-?) is said to have brought the bow and arrow, writing, the water well, shoes, and the calendar to his subjects. It is said that he also wrote a medical manuscript, Nei Jing, that is still used by modern healers. Repeating material that was considerably older, the book postulated a theoretical fluid/gas/plasma labeled qi (pronounced chee). The study of this substance or influence is known as qi gong (pronounced chee gung). The qi is believed to circulate through the body by means of pathways called meridians. There are twelve or fourteen major meridians. (Since dissection of the body was forbidden in the old Chinese culture, it was probably the veins and arteries that they occasionally saw following catastrophic accidents, which they mistook for these conduits for the qi.) A great number of “acupuncture points” are specified on the body, and very fine needles, traditionally of gold or silver, inserted into these points on a properly oriented (north-south) patient and twiddled about rapidly between the fingers, are said to bring about analgesic, anesthetic, or curative effects. One form of acupuncture uses only the ear, which is regarded as a homunculus. Needles are inserted into various specific parts of the ear that represent parts of the entire body. Dr. Lester Sacks of California has developed a staple-in-the-ear treatment that he claims will help patients lose weight, stop addictions, and serve in various other helpful ways. Many very fat addicts swear that this system works. A form of the art in which finger pressure is substituted for the needles is known as acupressure, also called, “shiatsu.” This form is understandably more popular than the needle version. Ref. |
The Dantian or Tan t'ien (Chinese: Dāntián; Thai; Dantian ตันเถียน) which literally means "cinnabar or red field" is loosely translated as "elixir field" and is described as an important focal point for internal meditative techniques and refers specifically to the physical center of gravity located in the abdomen three finger widths below and two finger widths behind the navel. This "earthing" lower Dantian is also called Qihai, or the Sea of Chi and the Ying. The two other Dantien fields are the Middle Dantian; the Hart which is the seat of the Chi, and as such the personallity, or Self (the emotions. To those who believe that all emotions are but chemical substances at work in the brain; You feel fear in your stomach, lust, you feel in your lower abdomen. Depression as well as Love you feel in your heart.) The Higher Dantian, the Head is the seat of "heaven"; the Shen or spirit.
In Confucianism, Dao signifies a morally correct path of behavior. In Daoism the concept is more encompassing and includes the visible process of nature, by which all things change, as well as the principle underlying this process. This principle, known as Absolute Dao, can be only imperfectly understood by the practitioner but is the guiding principle in life. Daoists view life and death as stages of Absolute Dao and advocate a way of life that brings one closer to conformity with essential nature.

Ahmedabad Man Lives Without Food and Water from
Last 65 years Exhibiting a miraculous case for the medical fraternity, Prahlad Jani, an 83 year old resident of the Ahmedabad city in Gujarat, claims to be fit and fine even after fasting for the last 65 years. Back in 2003, Prahlad Jani had undergone a 10 day medical checkup at the Sterling Hospital and had seemed normal despite fasting. But this time round, the team of doctors wants to conduct more detailed tests to understand the phenomenon behind this unique man’s existence without food and water. Dr. Sudhir Shah, an eminent Neurologist, is going to conduct a 15 days, thorough examination of Prahlad’s body and the tests will include MRIs, EEG, ECG, aura study, blood studies and neuro-physiological studies will be conducted during these analyses Assisting Dr. Shah, will be a team of 30 doctors from the Defense Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS) jointly, with Sristi and Government of Gujarat. After observing the man for 108 hours, the doctors reported that neither did Jani consume anything nor did he pass urine or stool. What surprised the doctors was that he was still active and in a position to climb stairs. Dr. G Ilavazahagan, Director, DIPAS, states, "The exercise of taking this yogi under a medical scanner is to understand which energy supports his existence. The observations derived from this case study can help many soldiers, victims of calamities and astronauts”. |

Chi can be applied in Martial arts, but it only works on those who believe in it, as was proven by a skeptical scientist on a martial art demonstration. He wasn't affected at all by the Chi master. But if the (Yuan) Chi energy really is, or has something to do with the Spirit of God, this should come as no surprise. Because a Spirit of Love could never be used in a harmful way unless the "victims" wanted it so, because they BELIEVE it to be so. Then, this Spirit or Chi would be used according to the BELIEVE of the eventual victims. It would be their own doing. It's a free world and you have a free will and maybe you learn something from it. In a real fight a Chi master will be powerless against someone with sufficient faith in himself. Unless he starts kicking and punching of course. But even then, the "victim" on his turn may apply Chi to render all his blows powerless (and this has also been proven) and the tables are turned. All this shows is, that Chi shouldn't be used in offence (unless it's a demonstration) but can be used perfectly well in defense. Sufi mystics demonstrate these powers by piercing their tongues with hooks, having their chest pierced with a sword from left to right or even being stabbed in their skulls with knifes without causing any pain or leaving any wound or side effect. All by the power of Chi or the power of Allah as they call it. It's a bit brutal maybe, but hey, what are you gonna do. It can definitely be used as a healing energy to heal others or oneself and that's probably how it should be used in the first place. |
Chi can be a very powerful thing, but you have to be very careful with it.
There are stories of very experienced Buddhist monks who went insane after releasing Kundalini. Others, after initial panick during burning sensations in their spine and brain, were only relieved that they weren't fried during the process. Literally. But that is not DAO; that is not the right way to do things. It simply isn't worth it when it goes wrong! There is a better way to get there. Kundalini is pictured as a coiled serpent lying at the base of the spine. The goal is to force Chi up from the Base or Root Chakra through the body to the top of the head, in order to gain paranormal powers, mostly. It is one thing to convey negative energy into the earth and replace it with clean positive energy, healing Chi or Holy Spirit from above, but it is an other thing to draw energy from the earth into your system and into your soul, because you never know who is riding along with it.
|
WARNING Kundalini release can be triggered by erroneous meditation, yoga, rebirthing, holotropic breathing, reiki, qigong, healing, tantra, transcendental meditation and other eastern or new age spiritual exercises. When the kundalini energy is rising through the chakras, it can cause big problems for the bodily and mental health. Spiritual kundalini exercises known from the Hinduism, a religion of India, that emphasises freedom from the material world (moksha) through purification of desires and elimination of personal identity, and Buddhistic religions can be very dangerous. Kundalini arousal occurs especially as an unintentional side effect of spiritual exercises whose goal is higher consciousness. Many people have gone insane from the tremendous kundalini energy and got diagnosis as psychosis, schizophrenia and other similar mental diseases. TYPICAL KUNDALINI SYMPTOMS: * Burning hot or ice cold streams moving up the spine. * Perhaps a feeling of air bubbles or snake movement up through the body. * Pains in varying locations throughout the body. * Titillation of the genital area, spine, or head. * Tension or stiffness of neck, and headaches. * Feeling of overpreassure within the head. * Vibrations, unease, or cramps in legs and other parts of the body. * Fast pulse and increased metabolism. * Disturbance in the breathing- and/or heartfunction. * Sensitivity to sound, light, smell, and proximity of other people. * Orgasm sensations different places in the body, or total cosmic orgasms. * Mystical/religious experiences, revelations, and/or cosmic glimpses. * Parapsychological abilities. Light phenomena in or outside the body. * Problems with finding balance between strong sexual urges, and a wish to live in sublime purity. * Persistent anxiety or anxiety attacks, due to lack of understanding of what is going on. * Insomnia, manic high spirits or deep depression. Energy loss. * Impaired concentration and memory. * Total isolation due to inability to communicate inner experiences out. * Experiences of possession and poltergeist phenomena. ref, http://kundalini.se/eng/engkni_1024.html |
