And when a help-mate, a woman had been built for Adam, his name was called Aish (man) and she was called Ashah (woman). What did the Holy One, blessed be he do? He put His name (the letters of the word Yah; I H ) between their names, saying; If they go in My ways and keep all my precepts, behold My name is given to them, it will deliver them from all distress. If they do not (walk in My ways), behold I will take away My name from their (names), and they will become Ash (Hebrew; fire). Pirke de Rabbi Eliezer; Adam in Paradise.
And they will become fire; God will redraw himself from them; He will take back his Spirit. They will become fire; it does not say; They will burn in fire, but they will go back to their original state of fire which is the soul, the life-force, the energy within living beings.
Satan claims he has been made from fire and is greater than all other angels; He is the universal Soul; the energy within; the life-force ruling all physical beings. He may be greater than Adam but he is not higher than Adam, who has been risen above the animal state, provided he takes guidance from the Spirit of God.
The "i" or
yod
is
the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet, but also the most important, because
it represents the small "nucleus", the inner eye, or the well of Holy Spirit
within us; linking us to God.
In rabbinic terms, the human soul is a small lamp that is being kindled by the holy torch; the vital spark of heavenly fire. Berakot 10a
