This page is about
the origin of Satan, who was once called the Firstborn and god of this world;
the Sumerian god Enlil.

There is a pattern seen throughout biblical history of younger brothers being chosen over their firstborn brother. Abel/Cain, Isaac/Ishmael, Jacob/Esau, Joseph/Reuben.
Enlil, the first
breath, Lord of the wind, (thunder, storm and lightning) Lord of the
ghosts, (Similar to the Hebrew word "ruach", the Sumerian word "Lil"
both stands
for wind and for ghost.)
was the
first of the Anunaki
and was chosen leader among them and knew that he was
firstborn and King.
When the Gods met for assembly on Earth, they met at Enlils court in Nippur,
the city dedicated to Enlil. When the
Gods met in Heaven however he sat beside his Father Anu who presided
the heavenly court. He was the
only god living permanently on Earth.
In Jewish eyes, outside God
The Father, all the ancient gods really are (mostly fallen)
Archangels, worshipped as gods by nations around the world.
Since Enlil was the firstborn god, let’s see what is told about this
first created angel.
JESUS
said,
"My chosen one, Peter! Hear what I have to say to you: First we created heaven
and after that the angels. The Father prepared the Aeons. We created
seven
archangels,
to allow them to sing us perpetual hymns, me and my father the Holy Spirit.
"The first whom we
created we named Saklataboth, which means
'the one who disturbs the heaven
and earth.' We established him in command of all the armies
(hosts) which
we created, and they all obeyed him. Seven Cherubim were with him and sang
hymns with him in honor of the holy Trinity, which is perfect. I, my
father, and the Holy Spirit while the angels called him: 'the
first born
of the hands of God.'
Enthronement
of the Archangel Michael
Sumer was
the cradle of civilization. Before the flood, Enlil was considered king in
heaven and king of all the lands;
You are lord! You are king! Enlil, you are lord! You are king! Nunamnir,
(Great Mountain;
Enlil. Seat of power.)
you
are lord! You are king! You are supreme lord, you are powerful lord! Lord who
makes flax grow, lord who makes barley grow, you are lord of heaven, Lord
Plenty, lord of the earth! You are lord of the earth, Lord Plenty, lord of
heaven! Enlil in heaven, Enlil is king!
Enlil and
Ninlil 143-154
And
all went well in Sumer.
"Sumer,
(Shomer in Hebrew means watcher, the name Sumer could refer to the watcher
angels that descended in Sumer.)
Great Mountain,
land of heaven and earth, trailing glory, bestowing powers on the people from
sunrise to sunset: your powers are superior powers, untouchable, and your
heart is complex and inscrutable.
Enki and the world order 192-209
Enlil
and his younger brother Enki formed a good team.
Enki made
chickpeas, lentils and ...... grow. He heaped up into piles the early, mottled
and innuha varieties of barley. Enki multiplied the stockpiles and stacks, and
with Enlil's help he enhanced the people's prosperity.
Enki and the
world order 326-334
But
even though Enlil was considered 'the King of the Gods', in his youth he was
banished at one time to the world of the dead by the assembly of the gods
for having raped the grain goddess, Ninlil, (Mul-liltu)
his intended bride.
Enlil was walking in the Ki-ur. As Enlil was going
about in the Ki-ur,
(Earth city) the
fifty great gods and the
seven
gods who
decide destinies had Enlil arrested in the Ki-ur. Enlil, the ritually impure,
left the city. Nunamnir, the ritually impure, left the city.
Enlil, in accordance with what had been decided, Nunamnir, in accordance
with what had been decided, Enlil went. Ninlil followed. Nunamnir went, the
maiden chased him.
Enlil and Ninlil 54
This was
way before the human race existed. He managed to return, but then the gods
started threatening Enlil because of the hard labor they had to perform each
day.
They
[wearied, complained, [grum]bled in the workpits. "Let us confront the
throne-bearer that he may remove from us our [hea]vy labor.
Atrahasis 22
A council
was held in which Enki proposed to create a “Lullu”
man, a race of humans to
take
over the work..
Enki opened his mouth and said to the great gods:
"At the new moon, the seventh day, and the full moon, I will set up a purifying
bath. Let them slaughter one god. Let the gods be purified by immersion. With
his flesh and blood let Nintu mix the clay. God and man- let them be inseparably
mixed in the clay;…We-ila,
who had wisdom, (a god of wisdom or rationality)
they slaughtered in their assembly. With his
flesh and blood Nintu
mixed the clay. (In later myths named Kingu.)
Till
the end [of days they heard the drum]. From the flesh of the god there was
spirit.
Atrahasis
After
a few attempts the result, being able to raise high above the animal state had
so much potential, that God called
on the Firstborn
(Enlil; the animal soul) to prostate
himself before man, in whom was put the spirit of the god, being created after
the image of God, which made him rise in intelligence above the animals;
'The
angels beheld the likeness and image of God in Adam and they fell down and
worshipped him and gave him glory as the likeness of God. But
Mastêma,
which is Sataniêl, saw the honour that was given to Adam and he was
greatly jealous. He stiffened his neck before the Lord and said unto the
angels: "it befits not us to worship Adam, for he is virgin (parthenikos) of
earth; but
we are
angels (formed) of flames of fire and honourable, (made) from the elements
(hyle pl.) of fire,
while he is earth from the earth."
Coptic encomium on Michael, attributed to Chrysostom, (Paris 131(1),43)
From W.E. Crum, "Texts Attributed to Peter of Alexandria" Journal of
Theological Studies 4 (1903) p. 396-97 n. 3.
My father said to him, Come,
bow before
the first man, whom we have created after my image and my likeness, the
work of my hands. The firstborn
answered, I will not bow down, for he is a man and I am earlier than he,
and I am greater than every angel. When the
firstborn said, I will not bow down before him, he immediately seduced many other
angels and kept them from bowing before Adam. My father said to him, Come pay homage to my image and
my likeness. But he answered, I
will not pay homage to him, and these other angels will I keep from bowing
before him. My father said to
him, What is the reason which prevents you from bowing before
him?
"The
firstborn
said to him, I will never pay homage to him who is less than I.
My father answered, Come, pay homage to him. Do not bring destruction
upon yourself, so that your evildoing shall descend upon your head. He
answered, I will not bow down. Today evil is fulfilled in you, O evil
Mastema. (enmity)
See my witness is
fulfilled in you, which will abide for eternity and become law for all future
generations. It will be said, Every statement stands through two or three
witnesses. (cf. Deut 17:6, 19:15)
See, the first
testimony has happened. My father said, Because you have been
unreasonable and disobedient, no more shall you
be called "Firstborn"
but
Saklas.
(Latin direct object; Saklam.) the
one who strives with the Lord. My father commanded a Cherub, who lifted
him up on his wing and cast him below onto the earth.
This conflict sadly enough had to culminate into a fight. All of this didn't happen at the same time, but during the evolution of Man from primitive ape-like beings into civilized Homo Sapiens. The (so far) recovered Sumerian myths (so far) do not speak of such a fight, but later stories do, and here's where they fight.
And there
was war in heaven: Michael and his angels going out to the fight with the
dragon; and the dragon and his angels made war, And they were overcome, and
there was no more place for them in heaven. And the great dragon was forced
down, the old snake, who is named the Evil One and Satan,
by whom all the earth is turned from the right way; he was forced down to the
earth, and his angels were forced down with him.
Rev 12;7
.Rev. 12;7
In the
apocryphal
Book of John the Evangelist, Jesus says of Satan,
"My Father changed his appearance because of his pride, and the
light was taken from him,
and his face became unto a heated iron, (red)
and his face became wholly like that of a man: and he drew with his tail the
third part of the angels of God, and was cast out from the seat of God and the
stewardship of the heavens."
Book of John the Evangelist
"At that moment he took a great, strong angel
named Michael.
He
enthroned him on the throne in place of the
Firstborn.
And the entire splendor which had been taken from Mastema was given to
Michael: the diadem of the light of joy was placed on Michael's head.
The
staff of righteousness was given to Michael.
The shoes of peace were placed on his feet. He was invested on the evening of
the twelfth of Hathor. He was established above the heavenly world of light
and above the earthly world on the twelfth of Hathor."
Coptic encomium on Michael,
attributed to Chrysostom, (Paris 131(1),43)
From W.E. Crum, "Texts
Attributed to Peter of Alexandria" Journal of Theological Studies 4 (1903) p.
396‑97 n. 3.
Which didn’t mean that Enlil fell to his misery, or splattered against the Earth. He was degraded, thrown out of heaven; he lost his Kingship in heaven but kept his kingship as king of the lands. (provisionally)
Enki however, son of an earlier wife of Anu, according to matrilineal law, had the right of firstborn, even though Enlil was born before him.
Throughout the heavens; the Cosmos, the number of of enlightened souls; the lot of Enki/Michael, was growing to the point of the Kingdom of Heaven being taken over from Enlil/Satan. This is why Enki/Michael, though Lord of the Day, Lord of the Light came to power after Enlil/Satan. First a kingdom of nature had to be established; the realm of Enlil, Lord of animal souls. This was a necessity. Through evolution of the brain; the intellect, individual souls gradually evolved to a higher level. From that point on, the natural world with its natural but lower urges became an obstacle for intelligent souls to reach enlightenement, and Enlil became the Satan, the adversary of ascending souls.
Enki
was given the right of firstborn and was put in Enlil's place as the steward of
heaven and Earth, as Michael, who is like God.
Enki, the king of the Abzu
(Portal of Wisdom), justly praises
himself in his majesty: "My father, the king of heaven and earth, made
me famous in heaven and earth.
My elder brother, the
king of all the lands, gathered up all the
divine powers and placed them in my hand.
I brought the arts and crafts from the E-kur, the house of Enlil, to my Abzu
in Eridug. I am the good semen, begotten by a wild bull, I am the
first born
of AN.
I am a great storm rising over the great earth, I am the great lord of
the Land. I am the principal among all rulers, the father of all the foreign
lands. I am the big brother of the gods, I bring prosperity to perfection. I
am the seal-keeper of heaven and earth. I am the wisdom and understanding of
all the foreign lands. With AN the king, on AN's dais, I oversee justice. With
Enlil, looking out over the lands, I decree good destinies. He has placed in
my hands the decreeing of fates in the 'Place where the sun rises'. I am
cherished by Nintud. I am named with a good name by Ninhursaja. I am the
leader of the Anuna gods. I was
born as the
firstborn
son of
holy AN.
(lit. Holy Spirit)"
Enki and the world order,
61-80

Satan, outcast in heaven, didn't leave it to that and thought up a plan to have angels descend to Earth in order to rule over man, instead of bowing before him. They were the Anunaki, who came from heaven to Earth, or the Nephilim, the fallen ones.
Then were they known to men by various names, and various idols through the heathen world. Milton, Paradise Lost 1.374-5
Satan took up the plan to create a crossbreed between humans and angels, so they could inhabit human bodies and walk the Earth as spiritual giants ruling mankind instead of the other way around.
A plan
that went terribly wrong…
