Elijah next to Enoch is the only one mentioned in the Bible that was taken up to heaven without tasting death.
And while they went on their way, going on talking together, suddenly there were carriages and horses of fire separating them from one another and Elijah went up to heaven in a great wind. 2Ki 2:11
Apparently, even after going to heaven his job on Earth wasn't done yet.
See, I am sending you Elijah the prophet before the day of the Lord comes, that great day, greatly to be feared. Mal 4:5
and so it happened...
But I say to you that Elijah has come, and they have done to him whatever they were pleased to do, even as the Writings say about him. Mr 9:13
Then the disciples saw that he was talking to them of John the Baptist. Mt 17:13
After John was killed by Herod, he (Elijah) made his appearance together with Moses at the mountain.
And there came before them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. (Enoch) Mr 9:4
Enoch took over the function of Metatron from the fallen Satan and Elijah was transformed into the angel Sandalphon. In Chag. 13 b we read of an Angel called Sandalpon, who stands upon the earth, while his head reaches 500 years' way beyond the living creatures. He is supposed to stand behind the Merkabah (the throne-chariot), and make crowns for the Creator, which rise of their own accord.
